The True Artist
"The true artist helps the world by revealing mystic truths"
- Bruce Nauman
This past weekend I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and it was absolutely wonderful. I've been wanting to visit more museums and explore new places and try new things, so I made it a solid goal to just take up the opportunities that come my way and go. And I didn't want to wait for the new year to get started.
Pushing myself to go out and experience different settings and view new perspectives has sparked a new level of inspiration and motivation. It's such an incredible feeling, and for those in a slump, I encourage you to go out and experience the world of art, whether it's visiting a museum, seeing a play, or even a concert. Just GO!
I had gone to the museum with my friend for one of his school assignments, and we were so set on seeing the replica of Marcel Duchamp's Fountain. If you ever have time, just look up the story behind the piece. But after searching every room of the Modern and Contemporary wing, we finally found it in all its glory, along with several other fascinating pieces.
Patricia Urquiola's Between Craft and Industry exhibit was probably my favorite exhibit that we came across, mainly because I'm fascinated by interior design. To be honest, I've never wanted to sit on art so badly lol.
I didn't get to shoot everything I wanted to since the place was so packed, but physically being there was such a great experience, and I had so much fun.
Life is crazy and stressful. Take the time to break out of your everyday routine. Breathe in the fresh air and go witness art. It's so easy to fall into that cycle where everything turns dull and discouraging. You see the same people in the same place, doing the same things. A small experience like this can make a huge impact on your mood and overall perspective.
I have so much creative energy built up and I'm so ready to make things happen. I've got projects in the works and plans for more adventures. I have a really good feeling about the new year, but we still have some time left and I'm ending this one stronger than ever.
My advice for the week: don't take things so seriously! Enjoy what life has to offer. Find opportunities that will pull you out of your comfort zone and don't hesitate to experience something new. LIVE. Go out and find inspiration! The world is far more beautiful than you think.
