Last week I asked you guys to leave me some questions on my Instagram about some stuff you'd like to know about me, and I noticed a lot of the questions revolved around what inspires and motivates me to do what I do. SO, instead of a random Q&A, I'm going to focus specifically on the questions catering to that topic! (Yes, eventually I will do a legitimate Q&A about me, I promise!).

What inspires you?

I try to find inspiration in everything. Music has been a huge influence in my life since I was a baby, so I'd have to say that plays a big role in my creative mindset. I'm pretty observant when it comes to details. I focus on colors, patterns, textures, certain sounds, as well as movements, so I find a lot of inspiration in that. I tend to incorporate those details in my art, whether it's fashion, music, writing, etc. I could go on and on about this subject, but for the sake of this post, I'll cut it there.

What inspired you to start?

In terms of being a creative, there wasn't a specific starting point where I said "hey, I want to be a creative". It was something that had developed naturally over so many years. In terms of fashion specifically, it's kind of a similar situation. I wasn't always fashion savvy. Fashion was the one art I really had to work on and experiment with the most. The more my style developed, the more I learned about myself, and the more confident I became. I guess in a sense, wanting my confidence to grow is what inspired me to start.

How did you get interested in fashion?

Fashion was always interesting to me, but when I was younger, I didn't really understand it. I went to private school from grade school to high school, so I was in a uniform 90% of the time. It wasn't until college where I actually had to think about what I had to wear, and dressing comfortably was always important to me. I remember being questioned for a lot of the things I wore, but it felt great not caring. It was as simple as liking what I liked and wearing whatever the hell I wanted to wear. The freedom to create my own outfit and to have it portray my personality was fascinating to me.

How do you stay motivated and creative?

It's definitely not easy lol. I have so many moments where I feel like my style isn't worth all of this, but it is. And knowing that is what motivates me the most. My style is a physical representation of  me and my personality, and I've learned to love everything about myself. And after 20+ years of wishing I looked like other people and wishing I had their features, it's so liberating to be able to say "This is mine" and be proud of it. It's all about growth.

What keeps you motivated when it comes to social media?

I swear social media is the most annoying thing, but at the same time I recognize its importance. Seeing other artists express themselves in their own ways is so motivating to me, and social media is a great way to discover and keep up with other creatives. I appreciate a good post when I see one, especially because I know how much work goes into it.  And knowing that others appreciate my work keeps me motivated to continue sharing.

What inspired you to start your site?

Social media just wasn't cutting it for me. I wanted a place I could call my own. I wanted to be able to build something from scratch where I could showcase my work and express myself freely. By creating this site, I'm able to see myself grow on another level, and starting this was just another step toward my goal.

How do you manage your time and plan for posts?

To be honest, I have no idea where I find the time to do all of this lol. It's hard for me to just sit in front of the computer and create. Being genuinely creative happens randomly. I could be in the middle of Target and I'll come up with an idea for a post or for an outfit or a concept. I have a million notes on my phone, most of which don't make sense, but most of my content comes from those moments. I'm always jotting down whatever pops into my head. Sometimes it's a few words, other times it ends up being a whole post. I set aside some time every week where I can sit down and organize all my notes, and a lot of the time I have to walk away and do something else. I never want to force myself to come up with something. I want all my content to be genuine, so I'd rather miss a week of posting instead of posting something I really don't care about or believe in.

This was actually harder than I thought lol, but I really enjoyed making this post. Thank you to everyone that sent in a question and I'm sorry if I missed yours, but I promise I'll do another Q&A soon!! I won't be posting next week since it's going to be Thanksgiving (woooo!), so I hope you all get stuffed! Super thankful for all of your love and support! Stay inspired and stay motivated!
